Meet Intern Hanna Duenkel!
My name is Hanna Duenkel, and I am from Leesburg, Virginia. I’m a senior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Hussman School of Journalism and Media on the Advertising and Public Relations track. To pack in as much sports communications as possible, I am also double majoring in Sports Administration and minoring in History by taking Dr. Matt Andrews’ sports history series. I will graduate this upcoming May, hopefully in Kenan Stadium on a Sunday morning. If not, then it’ll be on Zoom, in my pajamas with a cup of coffee.
I came to Carolina with the desire to work in sports journalism, specifically as an NHL beat reporter. But while taking Hussman’s mandatory writing and reporting course, I came to understand that I did not want to be a journalist and instead wanted to work in sports communications, either through public relations or marketing. A few years later, I learned about Intrepid’s internship program at a career services meeting, and I knew that I needed to apply to spend my last semester at Intrepid, working at their agency and with their clients.
Intrepid is the perfect place for me to grow and develop before I head off into the real world because of how the internship program is formatted to put us in real situations, with real clients, while getting guidance from the account executives. I am so excited to see what this semester brings at Intrepid!
